Top Film & Television Apps on iOS in South Africa: Q3 2025

In the third quarter of 2025, the top-performing film and television apps on the iOS platform in South Africa showed varied trends in downloads and active user engagement, according to Sensor Tower data.

Ster-Kinekor saw a noticeable decrease in weekly downloads, starting at approximately 7.4K in early July and declining to around 1.6K by the end of September. Despite this drop, the app maintained a steady user base.

Nu Metro Cinema experienced a gradual decline in downloads from 661 in late June to 248 by the end of the quarter. The app did not report any revenue during this period.

For TodayTix – Broadway Tickets, weekly downloads fluctuated with a peak of 66 at the start of the quarter, dipping to single digits by September. Active users decreased from 190 to 136 over the same period.

The VOX Cinemas App faced challenges in maintaining downloads, which were minimal throughout the quarter. Active users remained stable, hovering around 53.

Finally, CGV showed minimal activity in downloads, with a slight increase in active users from 25 to 27 during July, before stabilizing at around 25.
